Utah AAU Boys Winter Super League Schedule

January 3 - March 9, 2017 - Salt Lake City, UT



I wanted to personally reach out to you about our AAU SUPER REGIONAL EVENT that is coming up May 5-6. It is going to be a great eventand would love to have you bring your team(s)!Grades 2nd - 10th Boys Girls 3rd - 10th.

We have several out of state teams already signed up and are about 75% full. This is a fantastic opportunity for your teams to play against some of the best teams in and out of state.

Tournament is a 4 game guarantee event, NO Sunday play. All games will be played under one roof at the Sports World Event Center in Salt Lake City. Tournament will not conflict with Spring Fling and we can work around your schedule.

We are starting tourney bracket play this week in the Utah AAU Superleague. If you are looking at the app you will see a button for the bracket for your division. That is where you can see the entire bracket. This is a single elimination tournament.

This message is for 5th, 6th and 7th boys teams that play on Thursday nights in the Utah AAU Superleague.

We have updated the schedule moving most of the games from Feb 2nd to Feb 6th...this coming Monday. If you contacted me about a problem with that move I think we have worked it thru.

There are some facility parking issues that SLC wants addressed. Looks like they have been worked out but the city needs to sign off.

Our games are cancelled for tonight, Thursday, Feb 2nd.

I would like to move this round of games to next Monday, Feb 6th.
Same times/courts, etc.
We will make that change.

We've had a good two weeks of games to start the league. We've had a few glitches with getting everyone on the same page with roster/scoresheet forms...and we've had some issues getting the officials we want with high school games going on...but we will have two officials on every court this week.

Please check your game schedules for this week to be sure you confirm your times.

This is the 3rd week of the league. If you have any roster changes/additions...this is your last week to do that. If you have roster/scoresheets that need to be approved/stamped, we will be available each night this week to take care of that.

We appreciate your patience with our new facility as we continue to work on adding courts, new LED lighting, permanent restrooms, etc.

Please check your game schedules for this week!

And you must have completed rosters for games this week. If you made 11 copies and had them stamped at the check-in table last week, you are good to go. Please use those rosters for games.

If you did not have completed rosters ready for approval at the check-in table last week you must have them ready to go this week...or your team will not play. No exceptions. This is for insurance purposes and we must have only players and coaches with current AAU numbers playing this week.

We would appreciate it if you and your players could clean up around your bench area after your games.

Please forward this to your parents and fans. These directions might help people avoid the train staging area en route to the Sports World Events Center.

Coming from Davis County:
From I-15 South, take the I-215 South exit toward the airport.
Take the I-80 East exit and then get off at Redwood Rd.
Drive south to 400 South. Take a right on 400 S.
400 South turns into 700 South and will take you right to the SWEC at 4400 W.

Coming from Sandy/Murray/Holladay/Park City:
From I-80 West (route from Sugarhouse/Holladay/Park City) or I-15 North (from Sandy/Murray), take the State Rd 201/West Valley Exit.
Take the Redwood Rd Exit and head North.
Drive to 400 South and take a left (west).
400 South turns into 700 South and will take you right to the SWEC at 4400 W.

You can also take the I-80 West Airport exit to Redwood Rdand follow the directions above.

Just a reminder that we will be playing on 8' baskets tonight for the 2nd grade division. Should be fun for the kids!

Also...no fullcourt pressing will be allowed. You can pick up at halfcourt only.

Utah AAU is dropping the additional team fee to cover the gate and lowered entry fees.
For upcoming leagues we will bump up the entry fees.

If you paid the extra fee last night...I have that information and will be refunding you.

Please make it a habit to check the game schedule...especially the day before your games. If we do make any changes from now on I will contact you. I don't anticipate making any additional changes...but it would be helpful if you double-check the day before your games.

ALL teams are required to have the official AAU roster/scoresheet. Info has been sent to all coaches and team admins. We are working with teams this week to be sure that is all completed.
Next week...no roster...no games! Please be ready with completed rosters!!

So...after quite a bit of feedback and input and other forms of comment;), Utah AAU has made a decision to NOT charge a gate fee for leagues; however, the team fee will have to increase:

$610 - 8 game league
$640 - 9 game league

As such, each team will be charged an additional $55 for this winter's league. That will be approx $5-$7 per player.

You can pay by check or cash at the door at your first game.

I've been getting some questions about the admissions policy for Utah AAU events. I'm sending this message to clarify.

Utah AAU sent out an email to all coaches in September discussing this new policy.

The county recreation and city recreation departments are able to make deals with school districts that provide the rec programs with ridiculously low rates. And, since about 2013, Utah AAU has not been allowed to run events through the county or city rec departments.

Gym rental at private facilities like Soccer City can run between $85-$110 an hour per court. School rentals through school districts can run between $65-$120 per hour per court. In addition, not being under the insurance umbrella of county or city rec departments means increased insurance fees to provide 3rd party insurance for all of the facilities we use...which is required.

Since 2013 our Utah AAU tourney and league fees have increased by over 30% because of this change. And...we have heard about it from coaches and parents.

The decision was made then to lower our team fees for events but institute a small door charge. For the Utah AAU superleague, the team fees were dropped by $25 AND an additional game was added (about $75)...so $100 drop in team fees.

In order to stay above water financially and to provide competitive events...many of which will now be under one roof at the SportsWorld Events Center...we are trying to be creative in our approach.

I would appreciate it if you would share this information with your team parents and fans. We are not trying to fleece anyone...just provide fun, competitive events for the players and fans!

With games starting this week, we need to cover some adminstrative items to keep the event rolling smoothly.

$3 - Adults
$2 - Ages 7-17 & Senior Citizens
FREE - 6 & Under

Players in uniform and coaches are admitted free.

Rules are attached to this email. Please note the Division Press Rules.

Utah AAU will be using a fillable/printable PDF roster/score sheet form this year for all basketball events. The form is attached to this email and can also be found at www.utahaau.com

-Teams will have three weeks to confirm their rosters (week of Jan 16th will be the last week to make changes) after which there will be no additions/changes made unless approved by the event supervisor (Anita Rowland: anita@e3basketball.com).

-Teams will NOT need a club code for AAU events. Big Mountain Jam, Rocky Mountain Show Case and all other Jam On It events use these club codes.
Boys- WWE5CE Girls- WWE5CE

-Once the roster has been completed it can be updated as needed for each Utah AAU event that you enter.

-All players MUST have first and last name, jersey number, current AAU number, birthdate and grade filled in on the roster to be eligible to play.

-ALL bench personnel MUST have a current AAU number listed with each coach's name. Only 3 bench personnel are allowed on the bench.

-Each team must have a Team Contact listed at the bottom of the roster form that includes address, cell phone and email.

(For Tuesday games this first week, you can send your roster to Heidi sometime tomorrow.)

-Team Manager or Coach should plan on arriving to the site of their first game a minimum of 45 minutes prior to the game.
-Coaches or Managers need to bring 11 copies of their completed roster to the check-in desk for leagues.
-Once approved, rosters will be stamped. Utah AAU will keep a copy of the roster at the site...the other rosters will go with the coach.
-Only approved rosters will be allowed at the score tables for games in Utah AAU basketball events.
-Full payment of fees will also be required at check-in if payment has not been made previously.

-If, due to player injury or illness, a roster needs to be amended by adding a player to avoid a forfeit, the team Coach or Manager must contact the site director and request a roster amendment.
-Any player being added must have the following information available for the roster: first and last name, jersey number, current AAU number, birthdate and grade.
-If approved, the site director will write in the the player's information on the roster and stamp it as approved. Coaches or Managers cannot add information or print out new rosters with new players after an event has begun. If a computer and printer are available at the game site, a new roster can be printed with the new player information at the game site and with the site director present; otherwise, the new player's information will be handwritten and approved by the site director.
-If changes need to be made please plan for extra time.

The schedule is finished...but not published quite yet. We are just making some tweaks to insure that everything is set. We will be able to publish later today.

In the meantime, please download the E3 Basketball app from the App Store...and encourage your players and their parents to do the same so that everyone is on the same page.

I will send a follow-up email when we have the schedule published. And I will include info about rosters/scoresheets and a few other items!

Just checking in to let you know that we are finalizing the divisions...looking to confirm several more teams by next Monday.

The schedule will be available next Wednesday night. I'll email you when it is ready to roll out. You will want to get the E3 Basketball app. It is the same as the Utah AAU app...just a different name...will really help everyone on your team stay on the same page.
