23rd Annual Magic Invitational Schedule
Messages
Thanks for attending our Spring kickoff on April 6/7! I wanted to thank everyone for their understanding as we did our absolute best to create good matchups based on teams' self-ratings, but we know this is never perfect at the first event of the season. I assure you, we use scores throughout the season to try to improve groupings for each event on the TXBA calendar.
Here are descriptions for the rating system for events found on the TXBA app:
1 - true rec level, beginners, younger kids learning the rules, older kids still learning fundamental skills, none of the kids know how to press or break a press
2 - very developmental level, younger kids learning the fundamental skills, older kids have not mastered fundamentals, learning offensive and defensive concepts
3 - select teams with some experienced players, kids have mastered many fundamental skills and understand basic offensive/defensive/press concepts
4 - select teams with experienced players, working on advanced skills for their age level, can run man/zone offenses/defenses, can press and beat a press
5 - select teams with at least some high level players, is one of the best teams in your city and travels, these teams want challenging games
We hope this helps you rate your teams accurately for future events so all the kids can get good games! We would love to see you guys back at any of the upcoming events on the TXBA app including Apr 27/28, which is coming up quickly.
You can register here for the 23rd Annual Magic Not on Mother's Day Shootout on May 11.
Thanks and see you soon!

Just FYI, reports are saying the traffic is going to be terrible this weekend because of all the people coming to our area to be on the line of totality for the eclipse on Monday. So leave very early for games in case the news reports are correct. Try to take back roads if you can instead of I-35.
Please let us know asap if you get stuck in traffic because we have three sites (one in Gtown which is further north and is expecting a million visitors), so it will take some communication to try to hold a game if we can. That's not to say we will definitely be able to; however, if we know, we can try.
Reports are suggesting to get gas Thursday night or early Friday, because apparently that might be an issue too. With a little planning, we can still make this a great weekend of basketball for all the kdis! :)
Thanks for planning ahead guys!

Good evening,
Thanks for coming out to play the 23rd Annual Magic Invitational on April 6/7! We are excited about a great weekend of basketball and can't wait to see everyone back on the court.
You can find the schedule on the TXBA app and here: https://basketball.exposureevents.com/216799/23rd-annual-magic-invitational/schedule
Please make sure your parents know there is a fee for spectators:
$15/day/adults and $5/day/K-12 students (cash and Venmo accepted, no cards)
We are excited to host 149 teams to kick off the season this weekend! I did my absolute best to accomodate schedule requests entered when registering and will not be able to change the schedule to accommodate late requests. Thanks for your understanding as we try to make this a great weekend of basketball for all the kids!
Rules are attached, and please keep in mind players cannot play down in grade level. Also, players must be approved in advance to play on multiple teams for the same organization in the event. Also take note of the sportsmanship rules and new freethrow rulesl. Please make every effort to keep this a fair and positive environment for the kids to enjoy the sport they love.
Thanks,
Tamie Felty
