Oregon Middle School Boys State Championships Schedule
Messages
Coaches & Parents,
There is a significant accident on I-5 north. Plan on being delayed 30+ minutes if you are coming from the south.
Leave early!!!!! Give yourself a lot of extra time. You’re going to get stuck in it.

Coaches & Parents,
FINALLY! The schedule is posted for the Boys State Championships this weekend in Salem. The full schedule can be viewed here: https://basketball.exposureevents.com/195279/oregon-middle-school-boys-state-championships/schedule
It is also available through the Oregon Amateur Basketball App. We anticipate it being posted to our website: http://www.oabbasketball.com this afternoon.
Good luck to everyone this weekend!
-The State Tournament Team
Coaches & Parents,
We had a curveball thrown at us yesterday in which we lost some gym time due to one of our facilities unexpectedly hosting a playoff game Saturday night.
We have resolved the gym issue and are currently working through scheduling. Please stay tuned to our social media platforms as well as the OAB app and the Oregon Amateur Basketball website: http://www.oabbasketball.com
We anticipate posting the schedule very late this evening. We will be releasing brackets and seedings through our social media channels throughout the afternoon & evening. Do not call us with questions about seeding or when the schedule will be posted. Those calls only slow us down. We are working as fast as we can.

This girls tournament tips off in a few short hours, but we're also looking ahead to the boys tournament next weekend!!!
OUT OF STATE TEAMS - Yes, we do accept teams from SW Washington and Northern California. Given their proximity to our state, these teams play more Oregon teams than Washington or California teams and are therefore deemed eligible. This is no different than Hermiston being located in Oregon, but playing out of the WIAA (Washington High School association) due to proximity.
FRIDAY GAMES - All teams must be prepared to play Friday games. Friday games start as early as 3:30 pm. We do our best to accomodate travel teams, but it's not always possible. No, you cannot request later. No you cannot request to just play Saturday-Sunday. Teams must be prepared to play at all times starting at 3:30 pm Friday.
SCHEDULE REQUESTS -Had a couple teams ask if they could "opt out" of Friday night games and/or ask for special time accomodations on Saturday. Neither of these are an option. Due to the bracketed format of the event, teams must be prepared to play at all times starting at 3:30 pm Friday. Final games will tip off at 6:30 pm Sunday. Games will start as early as 8 am on Saturday & Sunday.
FACILITIES -This event is sold out with 30+ qualified teams on a waiting list to get in. To accomodate as many qualifiers as possible, we added gyms at North Marion HS, Jefferson HS (Salem area), Dallas HS & a good Middle School gym in Dallas. This is in addition to Willamette University, Capitol Field House, McKay, South Salem, McNary and The PAC. We are exhausting all options for gyms in Salem, but teams must be prepared to play on the outskirts of Salem.
BRACKET-SEEING REVEAL -Seedings and brackets will be revealed by Tuesday afternoon through our social media platforms. Schedules will be posted Tuesday evening. Schedules will be posted to the Oregon Amatuer Basketball webiste: http://www.oabbasketball.com
TOURNAMENT FORMAT - The event is run under a modified double-elimination format. Essentially that means two losses on Friday-Saturday on 1 loss on Sunday will eliminate you from championship contention.
4-GAME GUARANTEE -All teams will play Saturday & Sunday. Almost everyone will play Friday as well. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 4 games, but need to be prepared to play a maximum of 8 games. Does 8 games sound like too many? Try to avoid an early round loss! :-)
APPAREL PRE-ORDERS - Apparel pre-orders can be done through our web store: https://statetourney.myshopify.com Check it out and we'll have something ready for you to pick up at the Capitol Field House next weekend.
We're looking forward to hosting everyone and are excited for a great weekend of basketball!

As we're coming up on state, here are a couple important dates to remember from a scheduling standpoint.
Sunday, February 26: All division exemption requests must be in by midnight: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfyzuD0xGRfxkPYXXwMg34TJ_aBPPkSiD9jJ5r2Bvuu_l1khg/viewform?usp=send_form Division exemption requests will not be considered after this date. As a reminder, it doesn't matter what division you signed up for. 5A/6A "A" teams will be placed in 5A/6A Division 1. If you are a 5A/6A "B" team or an even split situation you can register Division 2. Please note at the 5th and 6th grade levels, we had to combine Division 2 & Small-School.

Coaches,
Due to the abundence of rosters that are coming in over the weekend and the time it takes to process, we have extended the deadline for roster submissions until February 19. After February 19, there will be no refunds for teams that need to cancel due to eligiblity issues.
This deadline allows us to communicate with teams that have eligibility issues and clear up an questions that come up during the process.
All girls teams that have submitted rosters will receive communication by midnight tonight.
Boys teams will receive communication later this week.
If you have questions on rosters, they must be directed to Hemingway at: admin@statetourney.com or hemingway@thepacsalem.com
We're getting close to go time and we can't wait to host your group!
Coaches,
A couple of items as we're getting closer to state.
1) All rosters and proof of eligibility must be completed by February 15. That can be done here: Failure to do so may resut in players being declared ineligible if we are unable to verify eligiblity https://statetourney.leagueapps.com/tournaments/3562047-2022-2023-oregon-boys-mid-high-state-tourney
For questions on the League Apps platform, please contact Hemingway: 503-951-8262
2)Player Exemption Requests can be done on our website: There is a firm deadline on this of February 15. We need to time to consider the circumstances between each individual request. No exemption is guaranteed until reviewed by the committee. This inclues players who may have been granted an exemption in previous years. This can be done here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfwVWB-YxLPfNpg_tN5Npou4k4NlMOmA7LTNjZ4d00Gy8YVCQ/viewform
3) Division Changes:Please note that based on anticipated turnout, we have combined 5th and 6th grade "Small School" and "Large School" Division 2. All other classificastions will remain divided into 3 divisions (exception being 4th grade open division). Based on qualifiers that are still unregistered; we are anticipating enough registrations at 7th and 8th grade boys "Small School" levels to keep those divisions separate.
All,
Even if you have paid, all rosters and eligiblity must be submitted and approved through the LeagueApps portal. Even if you have paid, you are not officially registered for state until you have completed both steps.
As a reminder, we will not issue refunds after February 15 for teams that have players declared ineligible. Make sure to get your roster submissions in now. Do not wait until the last minute.
