MEMORIAL DAY MAYHEM Divisions

Coaches,

Please remind players when they are outside of the gym, or surrounding areas to not dribble, or throw balls.

After each game please have players pick up after themselves.

Reminder to respect, the referees and coaches. There will be no tolerance of disrespect and instances will result in technical, or ejections and will be asked to leave the facility.

TOURNAMENT RULES – HOOPS FOR COMMUNITY




For any clarification of the rules please request to see site monitor.




1. Players may only play for one team at the same grade level and gender for the duration of the tournament. (Girls can play on boys teams, boys cannot play on girls)



2. The HOME team will be the first or top team listed.




3. A team must begin the game with five players, but if the team has no substitutes to replace disqualified or injured player(s), they must continue with fewer than five or they can play the fouled out player and forfeit.




4. 20 Minute “Running Time” Halves. Final 2 Minutes of the 2ND HALF: Clock runs with an 11-point or more margin, clock stops with a 10-point or less margin. Clarification - Clock remains stopped after a timeout is called.




5. Each team will have three 30 second timeouts to use during regulation.




6. If overtime is required it will be sudden death from a tipped ball.




7. In the event the score differential becomes greater than 20 points, backcourt pressure will not be permitted. Backcourt pressure begins after full possession is made and the team has secured the basketball. Failure to follow this rule will result in a violating team technical foul.

8. Each player is permitted five fouls. Upon receipt of the fifth foul that player will be disqualified. Once a team has accumulated seven team fouls the opposing team will shoot one and one, at the tenth team foul two shots will be administered. Technical fouls assessed to players will count as team fouls. If a player control foul occurs while a team is in the bonus, NO free throws will be administered.




9. Coaches must remain in the coaches box at all times. If a coach comes onto the court it is a TECHNICAL Foul. Only the head coach can stand and speak to the refs.




10. TECHNICAL FOULS – A technical foul will be assessed to a coach or player for acts or conduct such as, disrespectfully addressing or contacting an official or gesturing in such a manner as to indicate resentment or using profane or inappropriate language or obscene gestures.

Coaches – Upon receipt of first technical foul the coach will be restricted to the bench for the remainder of that game. Upon receipt of second technical foul the coach will be ejected from the game. Ejections may be appealed to the tournament director no earlier than 15 minutes after ejection (cool down time).

Players – Upon receipt of a second technical foul the player will be ejected from the game and the tournament for the remainder of that day. Player ejections may not be appealed.




Technical foul is a 2 shot free throw and the ball penalty.




11. NFHS High School Rules will be in effect otherwise.

12. Ball Size will be: 28.5 girls all grades, boys 3rd-5th, 29.5 6th-HS.

13. Girls: 5-seconds on closely guarded held ball
Boys: 5-second on closely guarded dribbling, new 5-second count on held ball.

14. Ten Second backcourt count.

15. Players can only play on one team in one bracket. (Only Exception is for Saturday only 2 games or Exhibition play) Girls can play in the boys bracket but boys cannot play in the girls bracket. If you are low on players please discuss prior with the director and we may be able to come to a consensus.

16. We will maintain last year's rules for free throws. 1 and 1 after 7 team fouls, double after 10 fouls.
