Vertical Hoops Championships at Mohegan Sun Schedule

This years Winter Championships at Mohegan Sun, Jan 3-5, sold out two weeks ago, but we were able to open registration back up for town travel and AAU team (separate divisions) by adding 6 more courts at Foxwoods Resort! We are not over 300 teams for the event! There is still limited space available in a multiple divisions. If you are a town travel team or AAU team interested you should register by this upcoming weekend to reserve your spot.

October 4-6 we are back at Mohegan Sun for the 2024 Fall Championships!

Tie-Breaker Rule was sent and posted this past week, but just in case see below (#11 under game rules). If there is a three way tie point differential will be used to break that tie, then head to head will break the tie between the two remaining teams.

Tie Breakers - Head to Head, Point Differential (max 20), Points Allowed, Points Scored). If three teams in a tie breaker, Head To Head (Two or More, All Play)

This tie breaker is applied when there are two or more participants in a tie, and all played at least one game against each other. Deduction is used to determine if head to head can be applied to the set of participants in the tie. If not point differential will be applied.

Plenty of great food, music, and fun at the BBQ festival while you're here for the Vertical Hoops Championships, but that also means less parking available so give yourself plenty of time if you are travelling today to Uncasville.

There will be a security check line when you enter the Earth Convention Center. We are opening the doors at 4:00pm tonight and 7:15am the next two days to give everyone playing the first game plenty of time to get into the center. Good Luck Everyone! Coaches,

We will have a special table setup to the right after you go through security to check-in for the weekend. You will receive a wristband (must be worn on wrist) to gain entry into the event and a lanyard to wear, which will allow you on the team bench. We also have a nice gift for you to pickup as well! Please remember that teams are limited to two coaches for wristband entry and gifts, but if you have a third coach we are happy to give him/her a lanyard to gain bench access. Once two coaches claim the allotted two wristbands for a team our staff will not give any more for that team so please communicate with your team who will be using those passes. Thank you!

Coaches/Team Managers,
The schedule has been live for a few days on the Vertical Hoops app. For those of you who entered your rosters, those are also visible on the Vertical Hoops App. Rosters must be entered for Mohegan Sun by all teams. Failure to do so will result in forfeited games. There are two ways to enter your roster. 1 - Use the link from exposure events to manage your team. We will send this link again today (Monday). 2 - Use the attached spreadheet template and email jason@verticalhoops.com with completed rosters. Please include your coach's name (s) and email (s) if you are an administrator. Thank you! Much more info coming in the coming weeks.

Coaches,
We are just over a month away from the Vertical Hoops Championships at Mohegan Sun. We are completely sold out and have a waiting list of over 70 teams currently. We intend to put out our first schedule draft sometime this week. We are not taking schedule requests for times or days, just same coach situations. We do anticipate Friday night games (First games start at 5pm) for several age groups and we have also scheduled the event without concern for games being close in proximity to each other. For example, it is possible to play a Saturday morning game at 9:30am and then play your next game at 6:00pm on Saturday. We do this in an attempt to make scheduling fair for everyone and give all participants and their families time to enjoy the weekend. Please understand that tomorrow is our NO REFUND MOVING FORWARD DATE, so if you have any issues with the above scheduling posibilities we can remove your teams and replace them this week. No refunds will be issued after the schedule is released.

Once the schedule is released please expect minor changes in your team's schedule over the following few days. Once we announce a final schedule at the end of this week, we will begin confirming all rosters are in the system and visible on the Vertical Hoops app.

Apologies for the long message, but we believe it is important that all of this information is communicated to you ahead of time so you can prepare accordingly.

We are officially on a wait list for Mohegan Sun. All invoices need to be paid in full by May 1 to reserve your spot (s). Also, please note we do not take time requests for Mohegan Sun weekend and we generally try to space games out so it will likely not be the normal 9am and 11am game slots for example. We will also require entry of roster. If you want us to enter your roster for you send us a excel or google spreadhseet with these three columns (First Name, Last Name, Uniform Number). Otherwise you can use the link we will send out next week.
