RULES

2 COACHES BANDS WILL BE PROVIDED DURING THE CHECK-IN PROCESS. THESE BANDS MUST BE WORN THROUGHOUT THE TOURNAMENT. IF BANDS ARE MISPLACED COACHES WILL HAVE TO PAY ENTRY FEE.

ALL teams must check in before their first game. Scoresheets will be provided (TOP TEAM ON THE SCHEDULE IS HOME) (The home team is responsible for the game ball) Please have team books available at all times throughout the tournament. Books should have proof of age i.e., birth certificate or state ID, report card, or National Sports ID. Each team will receive free entry for the two coaches and players listed on the roster only. Players must have on full uniform to receive free entry into the tournament. A player is not allowed to play on two teams unless he or she is playing up and with the same organization.

BENCH PERSONNEL/DRESS CODE A team may only have on its bench the eligible persons listed on its official roster, including non-players (coaches, scorekeepers, etc.) All coaches are encouraged to wear team apparel. Due to the number of teams, all players, coaches, staff, and parents must make the proper arrangements to arrive on time for all games.

TEAM ROSTERS Team rosters must be provided before the start of the first game. Rosters should be entered when registration is completed for the tournament in your exposure team portal. If this is unavailable, the roster must be emailed to tournamentsofchampions@gmail.com. All teams must bring eligibility documents for each player on the team. If you are challenged with the eligibility of a player, you must produce a birth certificate and current report card. If you cannot provide these documents before the next game, all games played with the ineligible player will result in a forfeit.

Rules & Playing Time Division:
Time Rules 2nd Grade-8th Grade 14 Minutes Halfs
High School 9th Grade - 12th 16 Minutes Halfs

Warmup – 5 minutes - 3 minutes halftime – 3 minutes halftime - overtime 3 minutes, Double Overtime 3 minutes, beyond the second overtime 1 minutes sudden death beyond.

Forefits There is a 5-minute grace period. Game time is game time. If you are not on the court at your designated start time, you run the risk of a forfeit. There will be no exception to this rule.

TIMEOUTS Each team shall receive 4 timeouts per game (2 per half, no carryover). Overtime allows 1 full timeout, no carryover.

PERSONAL FOULS Each player is given 5 personal fouls before fouling out.

Bonus Foul Shots 7-10 Double Bonus 10+

Team fouls Reset back to zero after every quarter.

Technical Foul Any coach who receives a technical foul will have to remain seated for the remainder of the game. Any coach or player who receives 2 technical fouls will be removed for the remainder of the game. All technical fouls given to players will count against the personal foul count.

MERCY RULE Teams winning by more than 20 points will have a running clocking for the duration of the game. The clock will only stop for timeouts. The clock will stop once the lead is less than 20 points.

TIE BREAKERS Any tie after pool play will be broken using a head-to-head winner. In the case of no head game or any three or more way ties, the following tie-breaking methods will be used: 1. Score differential up to a maximum of 15 points per game (pool games only) 2. Least points allowed

Referees fully control the game. All referee calls must be honored. There will be no meetings, discussions, etc. regarding referees.

PROTEST FEE $100.00 CASH. If you win the protest, the cash will be returned. However, if you lose, your protest money is donated to the tournament host.

BASKETBALL SIZE The home team must provide the game ball. The ball MUST be in new condition.
6th grade and below divisions shall use the 28.5 circumference basketball
7th grade and above divisions shall use the 29.5 circumference basketball

UNIFORMS Player’s jersey must have numbers on both the front and back. Numbers can be 00-99. The home team wears white/light-colored jerseys and the visitors team wears dark-colored jerseys.

EJECTIONS Any coach ejected for fighting will be removed for the remainder of the tournament. Any player ejected for fighting will be prohibited from playing in the remainder of the tournament.

SPORTSMANSHIP It is the obligation of coaches, players, administrators, volunteers, and other representatives to practice the highest principles of sportsmanship and to observe the ethics and integrity of the competition. Good sportsmanship is defined as qualities of behavior, which are characterized by courtesy and genuine concern for others. The display of good sportsmanship is a statement of the individual’s understanding and commitment to fair play, ethical behavior, and integrity. All coaches should observe the following ethical guidelines: the coach shall never place the value of winning above the value of instilling the highest desirable ideals of character, the coach must always consider the personal safety of the athlete, the coach shall be thoroughly acquainted with the rules and regulations of competition, and shall be responsible for their interpretation to team members, the coach shall not try to seek an advantage by circumventing the spirit or letter of the rules, game officials shall have the respect and support of the coach, the coach shall not indulge in conduct that will incite the players or spectators against the officials, public criticism of the officials or players is unethical, the coach should respect his opponents, display gracious behavior during the competition, and require his players to conduct themselves in a similar fashion. Before and after the contest, rival coaches should exchange friendly greetings to set the correct tone for the event. Coaches shall actively use their influence to enhance sportsmanship by spectators.

1. Schedule - Schedule will drop on exposure events by Noon Wednesday April 22

2. Roster - Rosters will be due no later than 5pm on Wednesday. . We just need the players Name , DOB , Jersey # on the Exposure event Management form,. Please check your email.

3. Team Check-In - All teams must check on 1 hour prior to your first game @Norcross . Teams must provide one of the following . This is a Grade Based Tournament - Age qualifying date is September 1, 2025.

- Report Card/ School ID
- Passport
- Military ID
- Birth Certificate

4. Coaches Passes - Each team will recieve two coaches wristband. D1 will provide scorekeepers.

General Information

Coaches , Players , and Parents:

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the  17th Atlanta Invitational Tournament  Here is some information that will help make you trip more enjoyable.

1. REGISTRATION: All teams must send a representative (NO PLAYERS) to pick up your tournament package at the gym of your first game.  No coaches passes will be issued at any other gym.

Registration:  TEAMS MUST PICK UP THERE PACKAGES AT THE GYM OF FIRST GAME . PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP AT THE GYM WITH OUT YOUR CREDENTIALS. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY!!!

2. ROSTER:. We will issue pre printed score sheets for your convenience. After the roster is turned in. No additions can be made to the roster. 

3.  GAME BALLS: We will provide NIKE Game balls for game play only. You may bring your own balls to warm up with.

4.  SCHEDULE - Schedule will be posted on the D1spects website- July 1. Please do not call about the schedule. We will email you once it is completed.

5. Championship Brackets: TBD

AWARDS: Trophies will be issued for Gold and Silver Bracket Champions and Runners up - 

6.  Coachs Attire: Coaches must were either a Coaches shirt with a collar or Team t-shirt with team name on it. Shorts are acceptable. NO FLIP FLOPS.

7. GAME TIME is GAME TIME ... 15 min grace period will be given. The team that is late will be penalized a point for every minute late. Clock will be running clock should the game start 15 minutes late.

RULES

8th– HS - 16 minute haalves - Clock stops , One and One on 7 fouls , 5 time outs per game
6th -7th -14 minute halves - Clock stops , One and One on 7 fouls , 5 time outs per game

Elementary (1st- 5th) -12 minute halves - Clock stops, 1 and 1 on 7 fouls , 5 time outs

GENERAL RULES
All Divisions
• Teams must provide their own warm up balls
• Home team wears light colored uniforms (top of bracket)
• Visitor team wears dark colored uniforms
• Home team sits to the left of scorers table
• Visitor teams sits to the right of scorers table
• Each team will warm up on the end opposite its bench
• Twenty (20) point second half mercy rule
• Two man referee crews
• Players foul out of the game on their 5th foul
• No 1 and 1 foul shots, two (2) foul shots on the 7th foul of each half
• Overtime Rules - All Divisions
• Two (2) minute running clock
• Clock stops only on shooting fouls and timeouts
• One (1) timeout in overtime-timeouts do not carry over into overtime

TIEBREAKER RULE
All Divisions 1) If two teams are tied, the tiebreaker is decided by head-to- head competition. 2) If more than two teams are tied, the tiebreaker is decided by the point differentials of only the teams involved (15 point cap per game). The highest number receives the higher seed and the second highest will receive the next lower seed, ect. 3) If more than two are tied after using the above tiebreaker formula, the point differential of the teams not involved in the tie are added and recalculated (15 point cap per game).

GRADE BASED COMPETITION RULES

2ND GRADE – An athlete must be in the 2nd grade or below as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 9 on August 31, 2025.

3RD GRADE – An athlete must be in the 3rd grade or below as of  October 1, 2024  and can be no older than 10 on August 31, 2025

4TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 4th grade or below as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 11 on August 31, 2025

5TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 5th grade or below as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 12 on August 31, 2025

6TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 6th grade or below as of  October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 13 on August 31, 2025

7TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 7th grade or below as of  October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 14 on August 31, 2025

8TH GRADE – An athlete must be in the 8th grade or below as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 15 on August 31, 2025

HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITION RULES

15U/9TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 16 on August 31, 2024. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 9th Grade as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 16 on August 31, 2025

16U/10TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 17 on August 31, 2024. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 10th Grade as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 17 on August 31, 2025.

17U/10TH GRADE – An athlete can be no older than 18 on August 31, 2024. Grade Exception: An athlete who is in the 11th Grade as of October 1, 2024 and can be no older than 18 on August 31, 2025.
