All,
Make sure you have your own ball this weekend. All teams must be prepared to supply a game ball.

Coaches & Parents,
We added a team in the 7th grade boys division, so there have been significant changes to that division on Saturday. There were also a couple of minor residual changes.
Bracket times on Sunday have also changed for a couple divisions.
No significant changes outside of 7th grade boys.

Coaches & Parents,
The schedule for this Saturday-Sunday is now available through the Exposure website: https://basketball.exposureevents.com/222788/summer-slam-3v3-youth-shootout/schedule It can also be viewed on our app. I have sent the schedule over to my web designer and anticipate it being posted to: http://www.oabbasketball.com by Noon Wednesday.
SPECTATOR BEHAVIOR - Referees have discretion to assess technical fouls for spectator behavior and they are expected to do just that. If they choose to ignore spectators who are being verbally abusive or disruptive to the game, it will impact their future assignments. This is further discussed at the bottom of the message. If your parents get T'd...it came from me!
SCHEDULE CHANGES - You must check the website and the app frequently for any schedule changes! Assume your schedule will change at some point!!!
FACILITIES OPEN – Facilites will open 30 minutes prior to the first game of the day. Do not show up early; you will be denied entry while we are setting up.
REFEREE ISSUES:
I CANNOT BE MORE CLEAR ON THIS: I NEED REFEREES MORE THAN I NEED TEAMS. Yes, we do drop teams from tournaments and ban then from future events with no refund for parent conduct. Parents and coaches are not to confront an official for any reason after the game. Doing so could be a barrier to your programs participation in future events or even completing this event. Refunds will not be given in these instances. If you have issues with referees, read below. Make sure your parents have this information! You are responsible for the conduct of your players and spectators! Referees are instructed to issue technical fouls for spectator behavior!
COACHES - All of our officials are certified. If you have issues with our officials, please note the time of game and court. Call me Monday to discuss the issue. I do not deal with referee issues in the gym. Do not call me about officials during the weekend; you won't like the answer I give you. I can't waive a magic wand and make them better; nor will I move officials to a different court.
That said, You guys are my eyes and ears and I value your opinion as coaches. I want to have the best referees on the court as possible. I need to know who the weak officials are and who the strong ones are. This way, I know who to retain and who to let go. You have a voice, you just need to use it in the right, respectable way.
PARENTS - If you have an issue with a referee, you must direct it through your coach. Parents or coaches who confront an official after the game or verbally abuse an official during the game will be banned from future games/events. In some instances we will drop teams from the event with no refund for that event or any future events due to parent conduct. This is not negotiable. You are responsible for the conduct of your spectators. If anyone from your team verbally harass our officials, you run the risk of getting ejected from the gym. I will not entertain conversations of "they need to have thicker skin" or "what I said wasn't that bad....". You open your mouth, you take on the risk associated with it.
We look forward to hosting you this weekend,
-Nick Larsen & Steve Adams

Coaches & Parents,
TOURNAMENT UPDATE - We have seen lower than anticipated turnout at the 5th and 6th grade levels as well as the Sub-Varsity High School levels. We will likely be combining 5th/6th Grade divisions for both boys and girls. We anticipate doing the same with the 9th and JV divisions for both boys and girls high school. Typically we have a lot of last-day registrations come in for this event, so we have not made a definitive call on this yet.
FIELD OF TEAMS -The field of teams and final divisions will be available by 7 pm this evening.
FACILITY -All games will be played indoors at the Pac Event Center. If needed we will expand games into the Pac Training Center. There will be no outdoor games played.
Our apologies, we just realized the rules had not been published. Below are the rules for this weekend:
See rules below for this weekend's event:
*30-minute game (Drop Dead) or First to score 35.
*Play by 2's & 3's. Free Throw's 1 point
*No Personal Fouls
*Shoot 2 Free Throws on 7th team foul
*1 Timeout per game
*Take back all changes of possession - Take Back may be contested, however if the offense regains possession prior to the defense taking it back, the offense must successfully complete a take back prior to attempting a field goal. A shot taken prior to successfully completing a take back is dead immediately with possession to the opposing team.
*Take back line defined - Take back line is beyond the 3-point line and above the free throw line extended. Referee's decision on legality of take back is final
*Initiating action - After a successful field goal or turnover, the opposing team (the team that was scored on or the team that didn't commit the turnover) will initiate the next action. Team A will check the ball to Team B. Once Team A is back in possession, they must initiate action with a pass. The Team A player initiating the action may not shoot or dribble. Team B cannot apply on-ball pressure to the Team A player initiating the action, however they can contest the passing lanes. Team B cannot gain possession until Team A has been in possession and had the opportunity to initiate action. Team A simply touching the ball is not considered possession (don't even try the school-yard trick of throwing it off their leg).
