Event Date & Time
Date: June 14–15, 2025
Time: Games begin at 8:00 AM daily, with the final championship games scheduled on June 15, 2025.
Tournament Divisions
The tournament will include divisions for both boys and girls in the following categories:
10U (Under 10)
12U (Under 12)
14U (Under 14)
16U (Under 16)
AISA (Alabama Independent School Association)
AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association)
Each division will have 4 teams and is open to both competitive and recreational skill levels.

Note: Teams must register by the deadline to secure their spot in the tournament.
Scholarship Opportunity: Every registered participant is eligible to win a scholarship during the Opening Ceremony on June 13th when they sign in.
Tournament Format
Guaranteed Games: Each team is guaranteed 5 games throughout the tournament.

Day 1 (June 14): Pool Play
Day 2 (June 15): Playoff Brackets including 1st and 3rd place games

Divisions:
10U (10 & Under)
12U (12 & Under)
14U (14 & Under)
16U (16 & Under)
AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association)
AISA (Alabama Independent School Association)
Game Duration:
10U & 12U: Two (2) 12-minute halves with a running clock, except for the last two minutes of each half and during timeouts.
14U, 16U, AHSAA, & AISA: Two (2) 14-minute halves with a running clock, except for the last two minutes of each half and during timeouts.
Halftime: 5 minutes.
Overtime: 3 minutes. Each team is awarded one additional timeout in overtime.
Timeouts:
Each team is allowed two (2) timeouts per half.
Timeouts do not carry over to the second half or overtime.
Each team will have one timeout in each overtime played.
Substitutions:
Substitutions are unlimited but must occur during a stoppage of play.
Players must report to the scorer’s table and wait for the official to signal them onto the court.
Foul Regulations:
Standard basketball foul rules apply (following Alabama statewide basketball regulations).
Players are disqualified on their 6th personal foul.
Team fouls will result in free throws according to standard rules (1-and-1 bonus on the 7th team foul, double bonus on the 10th team foul per half).
Technical Fouls: Any player or coach receiving two (2) technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the tournament.
Flagrant fouls may result in an immediate ejection, subject to referee discretion.
Gameplay Rules:
Standard National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules apply unless otherwise specified.
Defensive Press:
10U & 12U: No full-court press is allowed if a team is leading by 20+ points.
14U & up: Full-court press is allowed unless a team leads by 25+ points.
Mercy Rule: If a team is leading by 25 or more points in the second half, the game will have a running clock.
Ejections & Conduct:
Any player or coach ejected for any reason must leave the facility immediately and is disqualified for the remainder of the tournament.
Unsportsmanlike behavior, including fighting, profanity, or disrespect toward officials, will result in immediate disciplinary action.
Uniforms & Equipment:
Teams must wear matching jerseys with visible numbers.
Home team wears light-colored jerseys, away team wears dark-colored jerseys.
Proper basketball shoes must be worn.
Game balls will be provided; teams may warm up with their own balls.
Teams will be responsible for keeping up with their own stat book.
Forfeits & Late Arrivals:
Teams must have at least five (5) players to start a game.
A 10-minute grace period will be given before a forfeit is declared.
Forfeited games result in a 15-0 win for the opposing team.
Protests:
Protests on rule interpretations (not judgment calls) must be filed immediately after the incident with the tournament director.
A $100 protest fee will be required, refundable only if the protest is upheld.
Final Authority:
The tournament director and officials have the final authority on all disputes, rule interpretations, and disciplinary actions.
Sportsmanship Statement: This tournament promotes fair play, respect, and positive competition. Coaches, players, and spectators are expected to uphold the integrity of the game. Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the event.
By participating in the Alabama State Games Basketball Tournament, all players, coaches, and teams agree to abide by these rules.
Medals: Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for the top three teams in each division.
Scholarship Awards: Multiple scholarships to be awarded at the Opening Ceremony.
